Advanced Levels

1. iBT TOEFL Preparation Course

The iBT TOEFL Course at ELT is designed to help prepare students to build the necessary skills to successfully answer the questions and complete the tasks in this test. It also familiarizes them with the exam format and teaches strategies to help students improve their scores. At the end of the course there is the opportunity to take the iBT TOEFL test. ELT is a recognized iBT TOEFL Test Center and tests generally occur every month. The dates of the next iBT TOEFL exam at ELT can be found on the website    www.ets.org.

During the course, students will learn the following:

- Tips, strategies and explanations for achieving high scores in each of the four sections if the TOEFL test: Reading,
   Listening, Speaking and Writing.
- A Diagnostic Test that helps you pinpoint your weaknesses in English and then directs you to exercises that will
   strengthen your ability in those areas.
- A ‘Build your Supporting Skills’ section that provides students with help in note taking, paraphrasing and summarizing,    increasing vocabulary, improving pronunciation, reviewing grammar, and developing good learning strategies such as    goal setting and organizing a study schedule.

Requirement

1. . Students must have finished the General English Program for Adults (Level 1- 15)
2. Students must have an English Placement Test of 48 or above (an oral examination is required)

2. Public Speaking

This course is designed to help prepare students build confidence in developing their speech delivery skills. Students will learn how to research the audience and topic, organize informative, use persuasion effectively, use graphics to enhance the presentation, overcome nervousness, and deliver speeches with enthusiasm and clarity. The course runs from Monday to Thursday.
