English Diploma / Advanced Diploma Programs

Upper Intermediate – Advanced

These courses focus on four macro-skills; Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. Skills are developed that will be highly useful for later in life such as writing headlines and resumes, producing advertisements, scheduling programs, preparing a sales pitch and interviewing. In addition, they will learn to prepare for their everyday working lives through the use of authentic materials such as newspaper articles, adapted film scripts, and blogs.

Requirements of the course

1. Students must have finished the General English Program for Adults (Level 1- 15)
2. Students must have an English Placement Test score of 45 or above (an oral examination is required)

Programs

1. Diploma in Spoken English (DSE)
    Designed and developed for students to improve their communication and critical thinking skills. There are four levels     in total: SPL 1, SPL 2, SPL 3 and SPL 4. Students have to pass one level to progress to the next.   It   is   only   upon
    successfully passing of all the levels that a diploma will be awarded. It can only be taken part time and takes 4 terms     to complete.
2. Diploma in Written English (DWE)
    Designed and developed for students to improve their reading and writing with critical writing skills being
    developed and enhanced throughout the diploma. There are four levels in total: WR 1, WR 2, WR 3 and WR 4.
    Students have to pass one level to progress to the next. It is only upon successfully passing of all the levels that a     diploma will be awarded. It can only be taken part time and takes 4 terms to complete.
3. Advanced Diploma in English (ADE)
    Designed and developed for students to learn and build confidence in the four macro skills. By the end of the
    diploma, students will be able to deliver effective, informative and persuasive speeches. Students complete the
    following:

    - Speaking and Listening Levels 1-4
    - Reading and Writing Levels 1-4
    - Culture and Literature
    - Public Speaking


    It takes 6 terms to complete if taken full time, but it will take 11 if taken part time. However students may have
    already done some of these courses before they start this diploma, in which case it will take a shorter time to
    complete.
4. Advanced Diploma in Business English (ADBE)
    Designed to enhance knowledge of today’s business world. Upon achieving the diploma, students would have learnt     skills such as:

    - Academic reading and writing
    - Business language and communication
    - Presentations
    - Job hunting
    - Life management
